Carbon Reduction Plan

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Adventis Consulting is registered with the UK SME Climate Hub and UN Race to Zero. We are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline Year: 2020/21
Our baseline emissions were measured following a move to remote working for the entire organisation, therefore, there are no scope 1 emissions. All fuel and energy consumption for homeworkers is captured under scope 2. Homeworker fuel and energy consumption has been estimated using employee surveys and the EcoAct whitepaper methodology recommended by the SME Climate Hub. Energy consumption values have been converted to CO2e using GHG Protocol emissions factors. Scope 3 emissions include business travel and capital goods lifecycle emissions and are calculated using the GHG Protocol Scope 3 Calculation Guidance.
Emissions t CO2e
Scope 1 0.00
Scope 2 6.05
Scope 3 0.21
Total emissions 6.26

Current emissions reporting

Reporting Year: 2022/23
Total emissions were lower than the previous two years as the effect of a reduction in headcount part way through 2021/22 was fully realised in our scope 2 emissions. A move to renewable energy providers for some employees also contributed to a scope 2 reduction. A programme to replace laptops at the end of their life cycle meant an increase in Scope 3 emissions and net increase in emissions per employee.
Emissions t CO2e
Scope 1 0.00
Scope 2 1.63
Scope 3 1.26
Total emissions 2.89

Emissions reduction targets

To continue our progress towards achieving Net Zero, we are targeting emissions per employee of less than 0.75 tCO2e by 2024, a reduction of 40% from our baseline.

Beginning in 2024, we plan to offset remaining emissions using Kyoto-compliant Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) covered by the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

Future Carbon Reduction Plan reports will include details of the offsetting schemes supported by us.

Carbon reduction projects

Since the 2020/21 baseline we have ceased providing business mobile devices, to reduce the total lifecycle emissions of our capital goods. This initiative has been supported by the implementation of Cyber Essentials standards to protect organisational data accessible on personal devices, removing the need for separate personal and business devices.

We have amended our schedule of IT equipment replacement, to extend the lifetime of our laptops from three to five years. This follows a move to home working with desktop computers being the primary device for all employees, which has reduced the wear on our laptop devices. This delivers a long-term benefit, reducing the frequency of upstream emissions in our supply chain.

In future we also hope to encourage more employees to switch to renewable energy sources for their homeworking environments, thereby reducing our primary source of emissions.

Declaration and sign-off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors.
